Only yesterday Ukrainians were not concerned with swine flu pandemic – telephone survey results

According to the press release passed by Gorshenin Institute to UNIAN, only yesterday almost half of Ukrainians didn’t think that A/H1N1 would come to Ukraine. Those were the results of the phone survey “Immunization in Ukraine” conducted by Gorshenin Institute on 26/10/09-28/10/09.

According to the survey results the absolute majority of Ukrainians (92.7%) have heard about the swine flu. Only 3.1% of respondents have not heard about this pandemic. 4.2% could not answer the question. The same survey conducted by Gorshenin Institute on 05/05/09-05/08/09 showed that 85.3 % of Ukrainians have heard about the swine flu pandemic, 6.5 % have never heard about it and 8.2% of respondents could not answer the question.

As to the possibility of the swine flu pandemic in Ukraine, almost half of Ukrainians (49.2%) think it might happen, 46.3 % are sure it’s not likely. 4.5% of respondents could not answer the question. To compare – according to the results of the May survey 45.7% of Ukrainians believed that the swine flu pandemic would come to Ukraine, 41.6% were of the contrary opinion and 8.2% could not answer the question.

The survey “Immunization in Ukraine” was conducted by Gorshenin Institute among 1000 respondents age 18 or older representing all 25 regional centers with the margin of error no higher then 3.2%.
