Yushchenko called Tymoshenko’s policy a policy of risky ventures and intrigues

President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko calls the policy of Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko a policy of risky ventures and intrigues.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, he claimed this in an interview to Ukrainian journalists in Dushanbe.

Victor Yushchenko noted that he was really surprised with the position of the Prime Minister, who sent him an open letter about the gas issues. “I’m not an adherent of maintaining relations between the President and the Prime Minister by mail. We meet every week for several times, and should the Prime Minister want not to PR her image, but to organize a concrete work, including on the gas market topic, it could have been done on a bilateral basis”, Victor Yushchenko said, adding that Yulia Tymoshenko pursued other aims.

The President stressed that both the governments positively assessed his agreements with President of Russian Vladimir Putin.

“Both the Prime Ministers claimed at a joint press conference that they welcomed these agreements – on making mutual payments, as well as on future talks on organizing the market. The first who congratulated me on the brilliant victory was namely the Prime Minister of Ukraine”, Victor Yushchenko said. That is why he does not understand what did she want to say with her open letter.

“It is unpleasant to tell me, but I’m fed up with the policy of risky ventures and intrigues”, the President stressed.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on Thursday Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko addressed President Viktor Yushchenko via an official letter, notifying him that the cabinet wouldn’t execute gas agreements he had reached with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin. The government, Tymoshenko said, wouldn’t yield to buying Russia’s gas at $315.6 per a thousand cu meters and paying in advance for it. What’s more, the cabinet opposes creation of Naftogaz-Gazprom venture that would sell gas in Ukraine.

At the February 12 meeting, Vladimir Putin and Viktor Yushchenko agreed on the new terms for the gas supplies to Ukraine. The presidents decided to replace Rosukrenergo and Ukrgazenergo by two new intermediaries, creating them as joint ventures of Gazprom and Naftogaz.
