On the results of May, Party of Regions leader Victor Yanukovych continues to top the national list of candidates for the post of Ukrainian President.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, these are the results of a poll carried out by FOM-Ukraine company and publicized at a press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday.

According to company’s director general Oleksander Bukhalov, Yanukovych has the highest rating of some 26.6%.

The second place is occupied by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko, who is supported by some 16.2% of those polled.

Front of Changes leader Arseniy Yatseniuk occupied the third place with some 12.8%.

According to the results of the poll, some 3.4% of those polled would vote for Communist Party leader Petro Symonenko, some 2.9% - for Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn, some 1.9% - for incumbent President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko.

Speaking about rating tendencies, O.Bukhalov noted that in January of 2008, some 25% of respondents would vote for Yulia Tymoshenko, some 20% - for Victor Yanukovych, some 0.8% - for Arseniy Yatseniuk, some 13% - for Victor Yushchenko.

The poll was carried out on May 17-26, 2008, in 85 settlements of Ukraine. 1000 respondents aged over 18 years old were involved in the poll. The error margin does not exceed 4%.
