The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine delivered a note of protest to the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation concerning the activities of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, which tested new missiles at the territory of Ukraine without informing the Ukrainian side about that.

Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Vassyl Kyrylych disclosed this to UNIAN.

The note was given to minister-counsellor of the Russian Embassy to Ukraine Vsevolod Loskutov.

According to V.Kyrylych, RF Black Sea Fleet representatives provided documents, confirming that the missile is a property of a RF Black Sea Fleet unit. The missile testing at the Ukrainian territory was not agreed with Ukraine, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s spokesman stressed. Therefore, the agreement on stationing the Black Sea Fleet in Ukraine had been violated, the diplomat specified.

As UNIAN reported earlier, a Russian missile was discovered by Ukrainian border guards at a Black Sea coast in Crimea on May 1. “The missile was discovered by a Ukrainian border guards duty detail at the Black Sea coast between Alushta and Sudak cities”, a source disclosed to UNIAN, adding that the shell appeared to be a new experimental missile, used by ship systems against air targets. According to the source, at first, border guards informed the Ukrainian Naval Forces about their find. The latter reported that Ukrainian mariners had not carried out any drills at that time. After that, the border guards informed the Russian Black Sea Fleet representatives, who admitted that the missile was “lost” by the Russian side. According the news agency’s source, the missile was returned to the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
