Victor Yushchenko stressed that the main threat to the national security is namely the informational expansion of foreign states. He pointed out a big presence of foreign TV-companies, radio-stations, printed media, and Internet-editions.

“As a result, informational psychological campaigns are carried out in the informational space of Ukraine on this or that issues, in order to misinform public”, Victor Yushchenko emphasized, adding that the matter concerns topics of national unity, territorial integrity, language, culture, religion, and Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Ukraine.

“There is a number of centers, there is a colossal system of TV-radio stations, other mass media, working not for Ukraine, but for other states”, the President noted.

In the opinion of the President, as a result, “regions of uncontrolled instability” are being created in Ukraine, with the social tension growing.

Victor Yushchenko pointed out that this is a serious challenge for Ukraine.

According to the President, it is vexing that there is no state body that could carry out the state policy in the sphere of printed mass media.

“A logical question appears: we are a sovereign state, we have sovereignty, our own informational interests, or we will live with products of other countries”, the President asked.
