Naftohaz Ukrayiny NJSC CEO Oleh Dubyna has left for Moscow today, where he plans to hold talks with Gazprom leadership, and to propose them to conclude a direct agreement on gas supplies.
UNIAN was told about this by a source from Naftohaz Ukrayiny.
According to the news agency’s source, O.Dubyna will hold talks with Gazprom in line with the protocol instructions of Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko, issued on 9 January.
In line with this document, in particular, the Fuel-Energy Ministry, the Finance Ministry, the Economics Ministry, and Naftohaz Ukrayiny NJSC, were commissioned to analyze the validity of calculations of the payment for transit of Russian natural gas through the Ukrainian territory, and to probe into eventual changing the price structure, by means of receiving services on technological gas transporting from the client.
In December of 2007, Mirror Weekly, referring to Naftohaz Ukrayiny CEO’s advisor Yuri Vitrenko, informed that, according to the calculations of the company, the economically grounded price of the gas transit through the Ukrainian territory must make up 9.32 US dollars for a thousand cu m of gas at a distance of 100 km. Presently, Russia pays for its gas transit only 1.7 US dollars for a thousand cu m of gas at a distance of 100 km.
