Khreschatyk to become pedestrian area from May 25 to July 1

It is planned to block the center of the city and to equip a fan zone  at Khreschatyk in Kyiv during Euro-2012.

Segodnya newspaper reports this referring to Main Department of Transport and Communications of Kyiv City State Administration Ivan Shpilevoy.

Kyiv City State Administration drew up a scheme for the period of the championship. Whole Khreschatyk, where it is planned to equip a fan zone , will be closed; it is also planned to block almost all center of the city during the days of matches.

Segodnya newspaper noted that Kyiv citizens should accept the situation and constant traffic jams because of blocking the roads; but on the other hand they will be able to enjoy walking along the center of Kyiv, which will become pedestrian area.
