"The Ukrainian gas transportation system is currently stable and safe. In addition, about 25 billion cubic meters of gas are stored in the Ukrainian storages located near the borders with the European Union, which is the resources and reserves that can be supplied to the EU at any time, if necessary," President Viktor Yanukovych said at today’s joint press conference with President Pal Schmitt of Hungary, according to Press office of President Viktor Yanukovych.

"I would like to reiterate what has already been said: all that has been happening in gas relations between Ukraine and Russia during the last five years, were very sad cases that consigned to history. It will never happen again," he said.

Referring to the modernization of the Ukrainian gas transport system, the President reminded about the project, which Russia and Ukraine had proposed to the EU. "We have made the proposals and hope that this project passes through all the necessary procedures, and when the time comes, we will begin its realization," Viktor Yanukovych said.
