Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko believes that the information about the “drunken incident” with Interior Minister Yuri Lutsenko in the Frankfurt airport is doubtful.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, she said this to a press conference in the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday.

“The information, which was made public, that as if the Interior Minister’s son was drunk and did something wrong in a foreign country’s airport… I may state that the son of the Interior Minister is a child ill with cancer; he underwent a very serious operation. This child is taking special medicines that are incompatible with alcohol drinking. Besides, no tests were made. I’m confident that this child had nothing in common at all with alcohol. And this untruth, which was publicized many times, casts doubt upon the whole information”, Yulia Tymoshenko stressed.

At the same time, the Prime Minister assessed as amoral the behavior of the oppositional faction in parliament after the Lutsenko’s incident.

“I think, one should not be late for the plane, and one should not get into the plane by force. I don’t want to defend the Minister’s behavior, but, at the same time, I believe that every father must defend his child, especially if a child is so seriously ill. And, it seems to me, it’s immoral to raise such a wave of political PR around the child ill with cancer”, the Prime Minister emphasized.

In the opinion of Yulia Tymoshenko, the Party of Regions may dismiss Yuri Lutsenko from the post, because he had sent in a respective application. “To dismiss a Minister, his application, which was sent to the Verkhovna Rada, is enough, and this application gives grounds to consider this issue at any moment, to listen to Yuri Lutsenko in parliament, to discuss this issue and make decision. If the Party of Regions wants to vote for the Minister’s resignation, and they understand that today they need to get rid of the Interior Minister, because elections are upcoming, and they need chaos and not order, let them put this issue for voting, if they have enough votes, let them vote. Today there are no obstacles to hear the issue about the Minister’s resignation in the Verkhovna Rada. There is just no will to do that”, Yulia Tymoshenko noted.
