Ukrainians are pessimistic in assessing their perspectives and the majority has already personally suffered from the economical crisis.

These are the results of a poll carried out by the Gorshenin Institute and forwarded to UNIAN news agency.

According to the results of the poll, the economical crisis has hit some 77% of Ukrainian citizens. Some 79% of those polled suffered from rise in prices, some 29% - from delays in payment of salaries. More than some 20% have suffered from reduction of salaries. In the families of some 14.8% somebody lost job, and some 6% said their enterprise shut down.

Some 12.7% have not suffered from the economical crisis, but only 2.4% of those polled said they did not suffered from it at all.

The Gorhsenin Institute has also come to conclusion that today every third adult Ukrainian does not work. Thus, according to results of the investigation, some 33.6% of the adult population do not work. Out of them, 61.7% are retired on pension, 9.2% are unemployed, 8% housewives, and 10.3% students.

More than 40% of respondents are afraid to lose their workplaces.

According to the experts, Ukrainians are rather pessimistic in assessing their perspectives for the nearest years: only a fifth of those polled believe that the situation will change to good. A half of respondents (some 46.6%) are waiting for worse.

The all-Ukrainian sociological investigation was carried out during November 25 – December 5, 2008. On the whole, 2000 respondents in 160 settlements of Ukraine were polled. The error margin does  not exceed 2.2%.
