Yushchenko: I’ll do my best to make regular election majoritarian
President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko vows to do his best to carry out a regular local elections on a majoritarian basis.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko said this to Ukraine`s ICTV TV channel late on Monday.
As of today, everybody agrees that it’s necessary to return to the majoritarian system of elections to local power bodies, the President stressed.
“Proportional elections have indicated that we turned a village council, a city council, a district council, and, very often, an Oblast council into a party club, where there is no party, but drivers, chiefs, family, other entourage, a so-called “political elite”, are working", the President said, speaking for necessity of open lists.
“I will do my best for the regular election be majoritarian”, Victor Yushchenko stressed.
