In New York President Victor Yushchenko met with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, according to the President`s press-office.

At the meeting sides discussed cooperation between Ukraine and the UN including Ukraine`s initiatives to the agenda of the 63rd Session of the General Assembly such as honoring Holodomor 1932-1933 victims, elaboration of World Ecological Constitution, etc.

Beside that sides discussed elaboration of a new ten-year UN action plan for Chernobyl aimed at restoration and development of the regions that wer affected by the disaster at the plant.

Secretary General Ban Ki-moon also brought up a subject of possible agreement on Ukraine`s service provision to UN helicopters that are used in peacemaking and peacekeeping operations. President Yushchenko from his part replied that Ukraine possesses all the technical means to do that.

President Yushchenko also invited Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to visit Ukraine to take part in the 22-23 November international forum dedicated to 75th anniversary of the Great Famine in Ukraine.
