Yushchenko vows to dissolve parliament if new coalition is not formed

0

President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko vows to dissolve the Verkhovna Rada and announce a snap parliamentary poll if a new coalition is not formed within the constitutional period of 30 days.

Victor Yushchenko claimed this to a press conference on Wednesday.

The President stressed he assesses the yesterday’s developments in parliament from a legal point of view as a formal beginning of a new parliamentary coalition. Victor Yushchenko stressed that if a new coalition is not created within the period stipulated by the Constitution, he will exercise his right to dissolve the parliament, and will announce a snap parliamentary poll.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian President Victor Yushchenko`s party quit the government of Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko in disputes over reducing presidential powers and her failure to condemn Russia`s conflict with Georgia. Our Ukraine pulled out late yesterday after Tymoshenko voted in favor of draft laws to strip the president of his veto over a candidate for prime minister and make it easier to impeach the head of state
