The BYuT faction will initiate an extraordinary session of the Verkhovna Rada if the presidential draft law on amendments to state budget-2008 is recalled from parliament.

BYuT faction top deputy leader Andriy Kozhemyakin claimed this to journalists today, according to Ukrayinska Pravda.

“It is extremely irresponsible – not to adopt the most urgent and necessary law, on which the population welfare depends, and to go on vacation”, A.Kozhemyakin said.

According to him, BYuT, in fact, has already finished collecting signatures under its demand to carry out an extraordinary session of parliament.

“We are ready to initiate an extraordinary session. But we will it not for PR, as somebody says, or for regular disputes and mutual accusations in the session hall”, he stressed.

“An extraordinary session of the Verkhovna Rada will be carried out under condition that the presidential draft law on amendments to the state budget-2008 is recalled from parliament, and if there will be the necessary number of votes to adopt amendments into state budget of Ukraine-2008”, Kozhemyakin said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko initiated an extraordinary parliament meeting in order to introduce several amendments in the state budget for 2008, deputy head of the presidential secretariat Andrei Goncharuk told a briefing.

The Verkhovna Rada Budget Committee should draft a law on amendments in the state budget based on two documents worked out by the president and the government. “I think that if the coalition exists, they should realize that they should return in the session hall,” Goncharuk said.
