Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has survived a no-confidence vote in parliament, according to The Press Association.
The vote was a key test of Ms Tymoshenko`s government, whose popularity has been falling over a failure to stem soaring inflation and address other economic problems.
The government is also on shaky ground due to Ms Tymoshenko`s rivalry with President Viktor Yushchenko, her ally in the 2004 Orange Revolution.
The 450-seat Verkhovna Rada voted 174-32 with one abstention, short of the 226 votes needed to sack her.
The remaining parliamentarians did not take part in the vote.
A confident Ms Tymoshenko rose from her seat in the parliament hall as loyal politicians and her ministers gave her a standing ovation after the vote.
