President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko has commissioned the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) and the Prosecutor’s General Office to introduce order into the State Property Fund of Ukraine, including in the sphere of financing this institution.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, the President claimed this speaking at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine session.
Victor Yushchenko noted that since April, this state agency [SPFU] has not been financed for carrying out its operations.
Addressing the Prosecutor’s General Office and SBU, Victor Yushchenko said: “I would like to ask you a direct question – how does the Constitution work in this country? Have a position, I expect you to defend the Constitution, the law. Dear prosecutor General, the Security Service, and all the law-enforcement agencies, have enough courage to provide the rule of law”.
Victor Yushchenko stressed that he has been extremely alarmed with the State Property Fund situation. He pledged to bring order into this state institution.
He reiterated that only the parliament has a right to sack or appoint State property Fund leadership.
