Government gives a month to governors to subdue inflation in regions

The Government gives a month to governors to subdue inflation in the regions. This decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine was announced on Wednesday at a press conference by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko, according to the government’s press-office. “This month given to governors so that they could demonstrate implementation of laws and resolutions of the Government, to stop inflation in the country,” she stated.

According to the Prime Minister, in a month the Government intends to listen to the governors again and submit an application to the President of Ukraine on discharge of three governors of the regions with the highest inflation in Ukraine.

Yulia Tymoshenko told that today at the Government sitting information of the Head of the AR Crimea Council of Ministers, heads of Volyn, Zaporizhya, Lviv, Kherson, Cherkasy regional state administrations concerning realization of anti-inflation measures in the regions was listened. “All of them answered the Government’s question “why do their regions face the highest inflation? Why do they do nothing to stop these processes?” the Prime Minister of Ukraine reported.

According to Yulia Tymoshenko, the Government listened to the governors for more than three hours and summed up that today the regions fail anti-inflation measures.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine reminded that today the governors have at their disposal the Agrarian Fund and Government Reserve which can provide flour and other products at a reasonable price. “If the governors succeed to collaborate with us and give a result than inflation should be reduced in the regions already this month,” the Prime Minister is sure. Moreover, as Yulia Tymoshenko says, the Government has commissioned the governors urgently to take measures on paying off the arrears of wages.
