The Ukrainian ship Nafrogaz-67 has been tugged to shallow waters, the press service of the state-owned company Chernomorskneftegaz told TAR-TASS on Monday.

According to Itar-Tass, “The ship remains capsized and divers are considering possibilities for entering its internal compartments”, it said.

“Regrettably, the ship has been under the water for more than 40 hours, and there have been no signals from within it, which reduces chances for the rescue of the seamen”.

The Naftogaz-67 sank on March 22 after collision with a Chinese ship in the South China Sea off coasts of Hong Kong.

It had 25 crewmembers on the board – 24 Ukrainians and one Chinese.

Seven people have been rescued, and the fate of 18 remains unknown.

The Ukrainian government has set up a commission for the investigation of the shipwreck and organisation of search and rescue operations.

The minister of transport and communications heads the commission that flew to the accident site on Monday.
