The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has submitted the draft law on introducing amendments into the Constitution of Ukraine in the part of canceling the deputy’s immunity for the consideration of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, 226 out of 449 parliament members, registered in the chamber, voted for this decision.
In particular, 156 MPs from the BYuT faction and 70 MPs from the OU-PSD supported this decision.
The draft law, which has been submitted to the Constitutional Court, was elaborated by leaders of the BYuT and OU-PSD factions Ivan Kyrylenko and Vyacheslav Kyrylenko.
Before the voting, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Arseniy Yatsenyuk pointed out that the voting will not mean the adoption of the draft law. “The matter is in sending the draft law to the Constitutional Court, for it to make a conclusion whether the draft law corresponds to articles 157 and 158 of the Constitution of Ukraine”, said A.Yatsenyuk.
At the same time, the parliament refused to send to Constitutional Court an alternative draft law on this issue, which was elaborated by representatives of the opposition. 224 out of 446 MPs, registered in the hall, voted for this.
