In particular, according to the information of the Ministry, earlier a military base was situated at that territory, but then it was granted on lease to “Stroyavtoservice” OJSC.

In line with the agreement, namely the leaseholder is responsible for the territory, the Defense Ministry’s press-service stressed.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Health inspectors found a pair of adult Siberian tigers incarcerated inside a Ukrainian military base, according to DPA. The installation housing the animals was in a residential Darnitsa district of the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, said Irena Kilchitska, a city health services spokeswoman. The big cats were in relatively good condition, although suffering somewhat from confinement, she said. The tiger pen "did not guarantee the animals would not escape," she added. Kyiv `s Darnitsa district is a densely-populated residential region.

Police were searching for the tigers` owners, and conducting an investigation on how the apex carnivoires wound up on a military base, according to the report.

Management at the Kiev city zoo volunteered to take in the tigers once the criminal investigation was complete.
