Russia warns Ukraine not to interfere at navy base

Comments

doggone  : WHY..??
The situation in Georgia was a RED flag to the world... Russia demands that the world does only what Russia wants it to do or it will be attacked. After the Georgian action, in spite of Saakashvili’s idiocy (by heavens, he was stupid), Lithuania and Ukraine should have been penciled instantly into NATO.... Instantly..!.. NATO R U listening..??
Arthur  : Mosquito and the Bear
Hmmm, Current leadership of Ukraine is doing EVERYTHING to spoil the relationships with Russia. Now by playing this ridiculous game with Sevastopol naval base. Who is picking the fight here?! Why would a rational government support SuckASSwillie for his aggression against Ossetia? a mosquito bites a brown Bear and then complaints it gets swatted. I can feel a good Aesop fable comin` on ......
doggone  : ... Mosquito and the Bear ..???
Russia rules, and if Ukraine behaves it can exist. That’s not a relationship. Who’s “playing this ridiculous game with Sevastopol naval base”? It doesn’t belong to Russia, tho they believe they own the world. The Ukraine should be able to decide its own fate. “Why would a rational government support SuckASSwillie?”, because they’re free to have an opinion, even if the Russians don’t like free opinions.
Egoigwe  : Somethings left unsaid...
What most commentators do not know or are not making public is the other role Porti plays. Georgia is one thriving black market and Porti is the gateway through which all kinds of contraband arrive for onward dissemination in Russia. You name it and it`s a done deal; from sophisticated weaponry to drugs and counterfeit money. The battalion of Generals (especially Israeli) that reside there are into arms trafficking that ends up being pointed at Russia by dissidents, criminals and separatists.
Egoigwe  : Mosquito and the Bear...
And Hey! Doggone, whats sauce for the gander must be sauce for the geese. By your own reckoning, it follows too, that if East and South Ukraine want out they should get out... and that`s what they want; out from that American induced political contraption and back into Russia where they historically belong. If Georgia can get out of Russia, then by Golly, South Ossetia and company can get out of Georgia. And enough with that bull, we all know who wants to be defender of the universe. Get real!
doggone  : ... Egoigwe : Somethings left unsaid...
I don’t know where your information comes from, but it’s obvious that there were no, zero, nothing, zip, sophisticated weaponry available in Georgia. Probably no drugs or counterfeit money either. Your comment “East Ukraine and South Ukraine want out”. The key word you added is ‘Ukraine’. Let Ukraine decide Ukraine’s fate. No other country (even Russia or the USA) has the right to interfere.
doggone  : ... Egoigwe : Mosquito and the Bear...
“we all know who wants to be defender of the universe”.. ‘Defender’ is an honorable ideal. However, overtaker and occupier of the universe is not. Russia wants to be the overtaker and occupier. Georgians didn’t kill thousands of innocent Muscovites. Georgians didn’t send terrorists into Russia. Russian tanks went into an independent country, not the other way around.
doggone  : ... Egoigwe : Mosquito and the Bear...
I’m a staunch freedom lover, and a lover of the sovereign right of any country to decide it’s own fate. However, in the Georgian situation I agree with Putin (I never thought I could say that), but Saakashvili was truly a lunatic. LUNATIC.! His nation never needed the two renegade provinces as part of their country, and the closeness of Russia, with their ‘Mafia’ leadership, should’ve been enough for restraint.
doggone  : ... Egoigwe : Mosquito and the Bear...
Russia just wants more land and the Georgian boyscouts were never going to stop the Bear’s land grab. Georgia’s smart move would have been to let the other two lands go, and then to have gotten on with their joining of NATO. Unfortunately Georgia wasn’t smart, and now the Russian ‘Organized Crime’ syndicate is an occupier. The nature of organized crime is that it will always want more turf. Just watch..
Egoigwe  : Doggone-Some relevant information(1)
On February 19, 2003 a general cargo ship - the "Karin Cat" - foundered in rough conditions in the Mediterranean Sea midway between Malta and the Island of Crete... inquiry by the Danish Maritime Authority(65) that followed revealed that, in addition to 205 tons of equipment and pipes for a natural gas company, the cargo was made up of 158 tons of ammunition, a sophisticated man-portable short-range missile system, and a radar truck... Report by Amnesty International
Egoigwe  : Doggone-Some relevant information(2)
However, the ship’s voyages and history cast doubt on the real destination of part of its military cargo and its owner’s activities... The Karin Cat was not the only ship of J. Poulsen involved in the transport of military equipment: the "Sarah Poulsen," had also been used along with other Danish ships for the transport of various arms cargoes to South Africa during the apartheid regime, in violation of the UN arms embargo. Report by Amnesty International (continues)
Egoigwe  : Doggone-Some relevant information(3)
The routes followed in 2002 by the Karin Cat before reaching Antwerp were complex, calling at many ports with military-related activities, such as La Spezia (Italy), Gdynia (Poland), Poti (Georgia), Bar (Serbia) and Lymassol (Cyprus)... The secretive and irregular way these arms were collected in various ports casts many doubts about... the real destination of the military cargo. concluded @: http://asiapacific.amnesty.org/library/Index/ENGACT300082006?open&of=ENG-BIH
Egoigwe  : Doggone... and as per narcotics
Inkombank is being monitored with respect to channels of drug trafficking from the territory of Georgia to the West through the seaport of Poti. @: www.russianlaw.org/004.htm ... and there`s so much more to go.
Egoigwe  : Doggone-the pipeline is the issue...
That Georgia, or rather Saakashvili, wasn`t smart is not in dispute. The point is, if it`s permissible for it to secede from Russia, ditto Ukraine, why does it become unacceptable for S. Ossetia, East and Western Ukraine to do same? Georgia and Ukraine`s secession was not by special agreement of the Russian people but the willful and deliberate interference, support and goading of the US. It`s the US that refuses S Ossetia to leave because their land is coveted for pipeline security reasons.
Egoigwe  : Doggone; Status of country
Page 1 GEORGIA Georgia remains a secondary transit route for narcotics flowing from Afghanistan, by way of Iran and across the Caspian. The potential for Georgia to become an important narcotics transit route in the future is heightened by the lack of control the government exercises over its borders and territory. Despite numerous efforts of reform and frequent personnel changes, law enforcement agencies remained overstaffed, under-equipped, poorly paid, and with a reputation as highly corrupt.
Egoigwe  : Doggone; Transit routes
The main method of transit is TIR trucks that are not monitored in Azerbaijan or in Georgia, but rather theoretically inspected and sealed at their place of origin. TIR trucks move westward to Kyurdamir, then to Yevlakh and cross the border at Gardabani destined for Tbilisi. From Tbilisi the drugs are shipped west to the seaports of Poti... From there the drugs are shipped... to Turkey (Istanbul), Romania (Constantia) and Ukraine (Odessa). @: http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/33217.pdf
Egoigwe  : Doggone: and Yes! Counterfeit and uranium
While the Russian “peacekeepers” who entrenched themselves in the conflict zones in the 1990s (and who will now likely resume their posts anew) have proved ineffectual and uninterested in maintaining stability, they’ve been highly successful in protecting an array of sophisticated criminal networks stretching from Russia through Georgian territory. South Ossetia, in particular, is a nest of organized crime...
Egoigwe  : It`s a masterpiece-US Ambassador
It is a marketplace for a variety of contraband, from fuel to cigarettes, wheat flour, hard drugs, weapons, people and, recently, counterfeit United States $100 bills “minted” at a press inside the conflict zone. “It’s a pretty sophisticated counterfeiting piece,” the American ambassador to Georgia, John Tefft, told me... He added that the fake bills appear so authentic that, if you weren’t specifically looking for a forgery, you’d easily miss it.
Egoigwe  : All $20 million worth
More than $20 million worth have been found up & down the East Coast of the United States as well as in Israel, Russia and Georgia... a North Ossetian calling himself Oleg — was circulating in Tskhinvali, the South Ossetian capital. He was reportedly looking for a buyer for what he claimed was high-quality enriched uranium pilfered from the Russian military. The price was $1 million for the initial shipment: 100 grams at $10,000 per gram. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/16/opinion/16bronner.html
Egoigwe  : Doggone; now you know!
For everywhere you find conflicts of this nature there are always deals for arms, especially illegal supplies from criminal orgs. And almost always, prominent sources of financing for their purchase is the trade in illicit drugs and sundry contrabands. Now you know! You take good care now.
doggone  : Egoigwe: The US can’t and doesn’t
The US can’t and doesn’t refuse anything about your precious S. Ossetia. The USA BUSH administration ‘fusses’ over S. Ossetia and that’s all. The average US citizen couldn’t care less one way or the other. I personally think Saakashvili should have kicked the other two out of his country and then gone on with being a FREE nation. Now there are just more reasons for more Europeans to hate Russia.
doggone  : Egoigwe: Russia has never cared about the narcotics trade
Russia has never given a rat’s butt about narcotics. Their ex-‘Soviet’ colonies in the East have always been the shippers of opium, and the Russian leaders knew it. Hypocrites. Russia should clean out its own nest of crime before trying to fix anyone else’s: Russian Mafia, industrial counterfeiting, child porn web sites, web hacker/thief rings, missing military nuclear materials.
doggone  : Egoigwe: Russia is what you say Georgia is
Russia is: crime, narcotics, theft, smuggling, bribery. Russian leadership never cared about such trivial things. Georgia was about grabbing land any way possible, and it never mattered how lam the excuse was. It’s a turf war. Gangland style turf war. Oh, we have that in the USA also, but it’s on the neighborhood scale. Over there it’s on the Russian size scale. No words can describe how sick that is.
