Text of Putin’s speech at NATO Summit (Bucharest, April 2, 2008)

mistake : Putin in embarrasing position
He should be better prepared to such a high-level meeting. For instance, what is the number of ethnic Russians in Ukraine? Yes, 17, BUT NOT MILLION! In line with the population census of the year 2001, 17.3% of Ukrainian citizens, or nearly 8 mln people, said they were Russians. Putin has another embarrassing position on Crimea - he believes there are 90% of Russians. But there are only nearly more than 50% of Russians. Saying nothing of other embarassing mistakes. Who prepares data for his speeches? I would sack that person if I were Putin.
hahaha : +1
If one follows Putin`s logic, then Spain for instance may express its interest to the foreign and internal policy of the United States, because 10.7% of US population, or 28 mln, are Spanish-language. And UK could dictate its conditions to 53 world countries at all. Following Putin`s logic, it seems that in 1966, when France left NATO`s military command, president Charles de Gaulle should have demanded the same from Canada, because 24% of its population are French.
Oks : Pu the Great
a mere delusion of grandeur. He believes they will eat it. and they really eat
Yevhen : Kuban, Kursk, Voronezh, Orel - all of Ukrainian origin!
Ukraine may have a claim on Kuban and a part of Kursk, Voronezh, Oryol regions, which were seized from the Ukrainian Soviet Republic and transferred to Russia because in this case they were easier to control. There are maps that prove this fact. The Ukrainian People`s Republic regarded Kuban as a constituent part of Ukraine. It may seem strange now, considering the Russian propaganda, but it is true.
Charles N. Steele : Putin`s contradiction
Why does Russian ethnicity make a person a concern of the Russian government? Russia is a political entity, not an ethnic one. If this isn`t so, Russia should immediately renounce any claims to non-Russian parts of the Russian federation, such as Chechnya, most of the Caucusus, and much of Siberia.
Putin is interested in power, and ethnic Russians in Ukraine are just an excuse.
